A Few Important Reminders

26 Oct 2019 by Ben Holt

It’s been great to hear about all the different catch ups and chats that are occurring across this seasons Rochedale Revue Family. The Revue experience is certainly capable of expanding your social networks.

We are fortunate to live in an age where communicating with one another is supported with so many social media options. However it also comes with additional responsibilities and rules of use.

It has been bought to my attention that some members of the Rochedale Revue family have been using social media inappropriately. Of greater concern is that the things being communicated are not the Scouting or Guiding way, nor are they tolerated in the wider community.

A few things to remember when using social media:
1. Consider what you are saying- if it was about you, how would it make you feel.
2. Once you post, it is very difficult to remove it. You do not have control of what is copied and forwarded to others. It is probably going to be available forever.
3. This evidence has many consequences including emotional, social, personal and legal issues.

This information is provided to every member of the Rochedale Revue Season 2019 and comes directly from the rules that govern Scouting and Guiding in QLD.

I finish this article with the following information.
If you want to provide feedback about the season of Revue, please use the survey tool in the Rochedale Revue App. It will be reopened for another 2 weeks from Oct 27.

If you have a complaint, concern or issue, this needs to be communicated directly to me via a phone call or email.

Inappropriate comments about other people will not be tolerated and evidence of such behaviour will have consequences in the future access to Scouting and Guiding activities.

It is regrettable to have this issue arise after a successful season and I look forward to preparing an even better 2021 season for all to enjoy.
